WWDC 2018 Apple Business Manager and Device Management Updates

Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) has just wrapped up in San Jose and undoubtedly, developers from all over the world are heading home feeling that they have just spent the entire week drinking from a fire hose. For all the new features in iOS 12, tvOS 12 and macOS Mojave, the MobileSurety team attentively watched the proceedings with a keen eye on one of our favourite topics- mobile device management.

So what’s new in the realm of mobile device management (MDM) features coming to the updated Apple operating systems this fall?

Business Manager

Apple’s announcement of Business Manager thrills us by reaffirming Apple’s leadership role in mobile device management. Those of you familiar with Apple School Manager, and like us envied at the unified clean interface it offers to education IT customers, will be thrilled to learn that Business Manager delivers to enterprise what education customers currently enjoy.

Enterprise IT administrators now have the ability to manage device deployment, purchase apps and books in volume, and manage roles for their organization within one unified portal. Gone are the days of switching between the DEP portal and the VPP portal and the time consuming and often confusing authentication challenge to complete the simple step of purchasing an App. Apple Business Manager is a UI enhancement and blending of the Device Enrolment Program (DEP) and Volume Purchase Program (VPP).

If you’re already enrolled in the Device Enrolment Program (DEP) or the Volume Purchase Program (VPP), you will be able to upgrade your existing programs to Apple Business Manager in Canada by the end of June, bringing together everything needed to deploy iOS devices, Mac computers, and Apple TV.

MobileSurety is proud to announce that Business Manager is now part of our Apple Foundation deliverables for enterprise customers that wish to take advantage of Apples' world-class device management workflow, but choose to outsource the task of signing up and creating a mobile deployment and management solution with an eye on best practices, what we refer to as the MobileSurety way!

Do you have questions about migrating to Business Manager from your current setup, or how to prepare now for your fall upgrades? Are you embarking on an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV project? If so, MobileSurety is ready to assist and see your transition to Business Manager or deployment to complete success.

Contact us today to discuss your needs, we’re eager to help.
